According to a recent (June 8th, 2021) report from ProPublica, sourced by a vast cache of IRS information, billionaires like Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, and Warren Buffett pay little in income tax, sometimes, even nothing.
On an unprecedented disclosed evidence, in 2011, a year in which Bezos' wealth held roughly steady at $18 billion, he filed a tax return reporting he lost money. His income that year was more than offset by investment losses. What’s more, because, according to the tax law, he made so little, he even claimed and received a $4,000 tax credit for his children (!)
If this report will be proven true, it's an interesting source of thoughts:
1. The US is confirmed once more as tax heaven for the wealth. (I assume the mentioned billionaires took advantage of all the required legal accounting procedures)
2. Amazon, founded by Mr. Bezos, is a huge corporation with almost a 1.3Milion employees, at the size of countries like Estonia or Bahrain. How respectful can be a leader to his employees, articulating the values of greed and arrogance?
3. "There is a sufficiency in the world for man's need but not for man's greed." (Mahatma Gandhi)
