An impressive result after analyzing the top 100 most-viewed videos on YouTube, published after January 2023.

In Graypes GmbH we recently conducted a comprehensive sentiment analysis on the top 100 most-viewed videos on YouTube, related to Artificial Intelligence, and published after January 2023. The results revealed a striking trend toward negativity:

📌 A significant proportion of the videos, approximately 74.3%, were found to have a negative sentiment, which is concerning as it may reflect the current societal mood on Artificial Intelligence or the type of content that is being promoted and consumed on the platform.

📌 In contrast, only 19.3% of the videos were found to have a positive sentiment, which is relatively low and suggests that uplifting and inspiring content about #AI may not be as popular or widespread as negative content.

We conducted the analysis according to the following steps:

📍Data Collection: We identified the 100 most-viewed YouTube videos on #AI published since January 2023, ensuring each video was at least 4 minutes long.

📍Transcript Generation: We utilized a popular YouTube transcript generator, specifically kome.ai, to convert the video audio into text for each video.

📍 Sentiment Analysis: A custom Python script employing the NLTK library's "SentimentIntensityAnalyzer" was used to analyze the sentiment of each transcript. This analysis categorized the sentiment into three classes: Positive, Negative, and Neutral.

💡 The rapid advancement of #AI has sparked negative sentiments, including fears of job displacement, ethical concerns about bias and discrimination, and worries about the potential for AI to infringe upon human rights and freedoms.

💡 On the other hand, there are proponents like Eric Schmidt (Google's ex-CEO) who believe in AI's potential to address all humanity's challenges. This viewpoint emphasizes the technological solutionism approach, where advancements in #AI are seen as a panacea for various societal and scientific issues.

As a seasoned technologist with over two decades of experience in the IT sector, I have had the privilege of witnessing some of the most groundbreaking advancements in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. Based on this extensive background, I hold a firm belief:

💡 No #technology by itself is #transformative. The #parents, the #education, the #schools, the #pedagogy, the #child #development, that is transformative.

❗️It is in this domain that I plan to dedicate my #innovative efforts and resources in the coming years.
